HP LaserJet M109-112 not recognized via USB – driver installation fails (“Failed to connect")

I’m unable to connect my HP LaserJet M111W printer to my Windows PC via USB. The printer appears under “Other devices” in Device Manager, not as a printer. I downloaded both driver packages from HP’s website:

1. Installation Software and Driver — includes print, scan, latest features and solutions

2. Installation Software and Full/Basic Driver — supports print and scan functionality only

Both installers detect my printer but fail during setup with the error “Failed to connect the device.”

I’ve already:

• Tried different USB ports and cables

• Uninstalled HP Smart and all HP software

• Removed the device from Device Manager and deleted old drivers

• Reinstalled the “Full/Basic Driver” package only

• Tried manual installation using .inf driver files (Windows shows “element not found / driver not installed”)

The printer is powered and connected, but Windows never identifies it as a printer. HP Smart remains idle and doesn’t detect anything.

I need a reliable method to install the driver manually or a minimal standalone driver package that works without HP Smart. Please provide detailed instructions or a direct link to such a driver.
