I've been given drivers to use to get the multi function HP LJ 3055 to work but I have been unsucessful with getting the windows dell laptop that I have to recognize that the device is a scanner that is hooked up to it. It has been able to print out a test page, but the other feature for scanning just will not work for some reason.

Hi,
How is the printer connected to your computer? be aware that scanning for your printer is only supported via a USB connection, not through the network:
https://support.hp.com/hk-en/document/c03501661
Additionally which driver has been installed? an In-OS driver or UPD?
You may go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers, right click the printer icon and select Printer Properties, then open the Advanced tab. what exact driver is listed within the Driver drop down menu?

Hi,
Using the HP UPD drivers would provide print capabiltieis only.
Please unplug the USB and uninstall both HP UPD versions.
Download and run the following again:
Select USB Mode.
Keep the first box checked to remove all drivers, Uncheck the second box to reinstall those and press Install, then continue the wizard and press Finish.
Next uninstall the other UPD by following the same steps for the other download:
Once completing the unistall follow Step 1 below and then plug the USB:

Windows will now install an In-OS driver and scanning should now be possible as following:

Ok, please ensure there are no drivers stored in your OS as following:
- Unplug the USB.
- Right click the start button and select Run.
- Type printui.exe /s and press OK
- Open the drivers tab.
- While holding the SHIFT key select any listed HP printer with a left click.
- Click Remove.
- Select Remove driver and driver package, then press OK.
- Confirm any prompt.
- If any printer fails to delete restart your PC and complete these steps again.
- Restart your computer.
- Connect the USB and allow several minutes till the printer is added again.
- Try scanning again via Windows Fax and Scan
If the same persists try downloading and running HP Print and Scan Doctor by selecting Fix Scanning and check:
If the tool fails during the test let me know the exact failure.

I've done all the steps and it still will not recognize the device as a scanner. All the scan doctor did was just take me to the website to download the drivers but there isn't another driver listed there for this to be able to scan. Thanks for the help though.
