Hello, Please help!
I purchased a brand new HP LaserJet M209dw printer couple months ago because I liked the idea of not having the cord. It was initially set up according to instructions and worked perfectly fine using the WIFI available at the time of my living arrangement.
After recently moving to a new apartment, I have a new internet provider and network code. I have attempted numerous times and still unsuccessful getting it connected. Same computer.
So, I removed the printer from computer and figured I would start over. No luck.
I watched a video and did a network reset on the HP laserjetM209dw. the status bar is purple and wireless light blinking blue. Still not discoverable. I rebooted the computer numerous times still no luck. I unplugged the printer overnight and tried again, still no luck.
Just to confirm, the current situation: The wireless blue light on the printer is blinking blue and the status bar in front of printer is solid purple color.
I have spent quite a lot of time trying everything I read on-line or know what to do, but still cannot get it re-installed to my computer. It appears that it is not discoverable???
When I use the HP Smart app, it says that the printer is offline and powered off. However, the printer is powered on and prints a test-page without issue.
Thank you very much from anyone that can try to help

Thank you for the video link. I had already tried this re-set but just to be sure, I watched it carefully again.
I followed the instructions precisely to make sure the rest was completed properly.
I even did a network reset on the computer. I restarted both the printer and the computer multiple times while trying to connect.
It still will not discover the printer. I followed everything precisely but it still will not connect or discover the printer.
The blue colored WIFI light is blinking and the status bar is solid purple on the printer.
Do you have any additional recommendations?
Thank you,
Dave

Hi @DavyBoy5
Thanks for following steps.
Ok, if that doesn´t work, maybe that New Wifi network needs a 2.4G option enabled, because that type of network is more compatible with Laserjet printer.
Also you can try to install using Wifi Direct option available in the printer, follow steps from the next video:

Thank You for trying to help, I really appreciate it.
I tried per the video and enabled the WIFI Direct and confirmed. However, no where on my computer networking connection prompts me to enter a password. Only a network key. I tried anyways and entered the wifi direct password and also re-tried the network key just for heck of it. No Luck.
So I went back and disabled the wifi direct and uninstalled the HP Smart app. I did this because all it did was show the printer offline and would not detect it no matter what I tried.
So after un-installing the HP Smart App, I re-installed it.
But it still will not recognize or discover the printer no matter what I try. The printer status bar is solid purple and wifi light is blinking blue.
Tried multiple attempts but says printer must be off and cannot discover it.
My landlord supplies the WIFI so I would have to go through them to inquire about the 2.4G option so that will not be easy unfortunately, as simple as it may sound.
Any further recommendations?
I have to go corded since I paid extra for this printer WIFI capability.
Thank you for any further help!!!

So I never was able to get the wireless working even though I paid extra. Wrote it off as stupid. So I tried a network/ethernet cable. Installed instantly. Went to print and it says configuration problem 0X80070709.
Does HP just produce junk these days should I throw it in the dumpster and start over with a Brother?
No idea what I am doing wrong never had issues in past hooking up a simple printer.
$149 dollars 3 weeks in still cannot print.
Any suggestions from anyone what I can do to make a HP printer work? It worked at one point never anticipated this much frustration.
Thanks for any help.

Hi @DavyBoy5,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding printer's connectivity!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
It sounds like your HP LaserJet M209dw is having trouble reconnecting to the new Wi-Fi network after your move. Here’s what you can try:
Troubleshooting Wireless Connectivity
Ensure Your Printer Supports Your Wi-Fi Band
- The HP LaserJet M209dw only supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi.
- If your router is set to 5 GHz only, you won’t be able to connect.
- Check your router settings and enable 2.4 GHz if it’s not already on.
Reset the Printer’s Network Settings Again
- On the printer, press and hold the Wireless button (or Wireless and Cancel together) for about 10 seconds until the wireless light blinks.
- This will restore default network settings.
Reconnect Using HP Smart App
- Make sure your computer or phone is connected to the same 2.4 GHz network.
- Open the HP Smart app → Add Printer → Follow on-screen instructions.
- If the app doesn’t detect the printer, try connecting via USB temporarily to complete the setup.
Check Your Router’s Settings
- If your router has MAC address filtering, disable it temporarily.
- If you use a Wi-Fi extender, try connecting the printer to the main router.
Troubleshooting Wired (Ethernet) Connection Issue (0X80070709 Error)
Try a Different Ethernet Cable or Port
- Use a different cable and plug it into a different port on the router.

Manually Assign the Printer an IP Address
- Print a Network Configuration Page (press and hold the Wireless button for 5 sec).
- Look for the Auto-assigned IP address (e.g., 169.x.x.x means it’s not properly connected).
- In the router’s settings, assign the printer a static IP address.
Reinstall HP Smart & Drivers
- Uninstall HP Smart and all HP drivers from your PC.
- Restart your computer and reinstall the latest HP drivers from the HP Support Website.
Factory Reset Printer
If nothing works, you can perform a full factory reset:
- Press and hold Resume (⚠️) + Wireless + Power buttons together for 10 seconds.
- Once reset, try setting it up as a new printer in the HP Smart app.
