Considering buying one, if I do not take the 6 months ink trial will the initial cartridge continue working after that date ?
It is being bought for home use and will be used more for scanning and maybe a few pages a week of printing.

Hi @qwakuk2,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The HP LaserJet MFP M234sdwe is a monochrome laser printer that typically comes with a starter toner cartridge. The starter cartridge that comes with the printer is usually a lower-capacity cartridge compared to the standard replacement cartridges.
If you choose not to participate in the 6-month ink trial (if it's part of a promotion), it typically won't affect the functionality of the printer or the initial cartridge. The ink trial is usually an additional service that provides you with a certain amount of ink during the trial period.
After the trial period or when the initial cartridge runs out, you will need to purchase replacement toner cartridges. Given your described usage (scanning and a few pages a week), the initial cartridge might last you a reasonable amount of time, but eventually, you will need to replace it.
When choosing replacement toner cartridges, you can opt for the standard capacity or high-capacity cartridges depending on your printing needs. It's a good idea to check the cost per page and the overall cost-effectiveness of the cartridges available for this printer model.
Keep in mind that laser printers like the HP LaserJet MFP M234sdwe are generally more cost-effective for black and white printing, and they are well-suited for home use with moderate printing needs.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
