My Laserjet stopped a few days ago around the time a new Windows update came out. When I tried using HP Smart App it does not even recognize that I have a printer on USB connection. How do I fix this.

Unplug the USB from the PC and unplug the printer from the wall. If the printer power cable has a transformer (wall wart) then unplug from the printer.  Wait 60 second the turn printer back on.  Bring up the windows device manager and look for any yellow or red icons showing a problem with the USB. If none then plug the USB cable into the PC and look for a change in the device manager.  Printer should show up.

If there were warnings on the display manager then reboot to clear them. I tis rare, but a USB port can be damaged.  Try plugging the printer USB cable into a different port.
