I have an HP Laserjet Pro 402N that was allowing me to manually print two sided by placing the paper that printed one side into tray 1 to print other side. The display would prompt me to manually place the paper into the tray. It stopped all of a sudden one day and no longer prompts me to print two sided. My settings are for printing both sides. Auto duplex option is not checked. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the printer and used the latest driver and firmware and none of that corrects the issue.

If you are using Windows 11 ( you did tag that) then I suggest that you try the new updated Smart Universal Printer Driver Version 4.01 which fully supports the M402 series. https://support.hp.com/ca-en/help/smartupd
