HP Laserjet mfp 140WE

Have added the printer to the network and moved to the "set up printer" process. However, this doesn't complete. Just get the spinning circle thing, then "thanks for waiting", then "set up not complete". Had been working couple of days earlier.

Using HP Smart app. Using Android 13. Tried 2 different devices.

Might also note; whose crazy idea to produce printers that ONLY work when connected to the internet? And, not clearly signal this in sales literature?

Restore the printer to factory defaults and try again.  If the printer is connected to a wireless network open the printer's EWS and you will have the option to restore the printer to factory defaults. if asked for a password use PIN on the label under toner access door

You could buy a printer that doesn't require a connection to the internet, but you chose the one that does.

Obviously I wouldn't have chosen it if it had clearly stated such. And the only possible reason I can imagine for this is to stop me using compatible products.. another reason it should be made clear.

Ok, this solution worked but it took 4 or 5 attempts. The unsuccessful attempts ending in similar fashion to holding the WiFi and cancel buttons to reset, then starting process again. So definitely worth trying.

Big thanks for the help.
