Dears,
I am close to despair. I have an HP Laserjet MFP M277dw.
As soon as I want to print an image file larger than 2 MB, the job is sent to the printer, but the printer does not print.
I have installed the latest driver available on the HP homepage for MacOSX (I use MacOS Sonoma, but the problem also existed with previous MacOS versions (driver version 3.0)). However, when I print the same file under Windows (driver version 10), the printer does this without any problems.
Does anyone have an idea to fix this problem under Mac OS.
Thank you all in advance

Hi @HelloSunshine24,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds frustrating to deal with printing issues, especially with larger files. Here are some troubleshooting steps to help you resolve the problem with your HP LaserJet MFP M277dw on macOS.
Update Printer Firmware
- Make sure your printer's firmware is up to date. You can check for firmware updates on the HP support website.
Check Printer Settings
- Open System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
- Select your HP printer and click Options & Supplies. Ensure that the settings are correct for the type of documents you're printing.
Try a Different Print Driver
- Sometimes, using a generic driver can solve compatibility issues:
- Go to Printers & Scanners in System Preferences.
- Remove your printer and then add it back.
- When prompted to select a driver, choose "Generic PCL Printer" or "Generic PostScript Printer."
Change Print Quality Settings
- Lower the print quality settings in the print dialog when printing large files:
- Open the print dialog, and look for a Quality or Resolution setting.
- Try setting it to a lower DPI (like 300 DPI).
Print in Smaller Sections
- If you're trying to print a large image file, consider printing it in smaller sections. You can crop the image in an editing program and print each section separately.
Check Image Format
- Ensure the image is in a compatible format (like JPEG, PNG, or PDF). If you are printing from a specific application, try exporting the image as a different format.
Use a Different Application
- Try printing from a different application (e.g., Preview, Adobe Acrobat, etc.) to see if the problem persists.

Clear Print Queue
- Clear the print queue:
- Go to Printers & Scanners in System Preferences.
- Select your printer and click on Open Print Queue. Remove any stuck jobs.
Reset the Printing System
- If nothing else works, you can reset the printing system:
- In Printers & Scanners, right-click (or Control-click) in the printer list and select Reset printing system. Note that this will remove all printers, so you'll need to add them back afterward.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
