HP OfficeJet Pro 8034e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

After some research and print problems, I have now found out most of the issues with an "e" printer, locked ink cartridges, function locks, etc.

In one message a "e" printer owner was supplied with a new non "e" printer. Has anyone heard of this or know how to request this.

When I bought this printer I had know idea what the "e"  was. Now I do. I had a older officejet and a Instant Ink sub, and just transferred the new printer over. I'm retired now and don't use the service enough to need instant ink anymore. That when I found out about the locked functions and ink cartridges.

Thanks

John

Welcome to the HP English Community --

I do not know who would send you a different printer --

The OfficeJet Pro 8030(e) series an older product by now -- HP has not manufactured the printer series for a while.

?

The OfficeJet Pro 8030 non-e series is (was) never eligible for HP+.

The OfficeJet Pro 8030 non-e series is, however, protected by the embedded Dynamic Security.

HP+ and HP Instant Ink - Separate Service Contracts

When the printer was new, it was eligible for the HP+ Warranty extension and premium scan feature contract package.

The printer is also eligible (as you know) for a separate Instant Ink subscription.

True - HP+  and HP Instant Ink are separate contracts.

Once enabled, the HP+  contract is permanent.

Yes, part of the HP+ agreement is that you (the owner) will only use genuine HP Ink cartridges and not chipped / refilled cartridges.  This change remains in effect after the original AND the additional Warranty extension has expired.

Which Ink can be used?

Without HP+ enabled, the printer remains protected by the embedded Dynamic Security built into the printer.  You (the owner) can use HP chipped refilled / remanufactured ink cartridges in the printer.  There is no guarantee these will work -- they are allowed by the Dynamic Security and tolerated by the printer.   Not every seller uses HP chipped cartridges - ask your vendor if you have issues.  Reference:   HP Printers - Dynamic Security Enabled Printers

Requirements for HP+ printers

This topic describes the requirements for HP+ printers.

NOTE: HP+ is only available in some countries/regions

Keep the printer connected to the Internet

HP+ printers are cloud-connected devices that must remain connected to the Internet in order to function. The
Internet connection enables the printer to deliver HP+ specific app features and firmware updates.

During setup, you must connect the printer to the Internet using a supported network connection. After setup, you can print using a USB cable connection, if desired, but the printer must still be connected to the Internet.

Use Original HP cartridges

Original HP cartridges are cartridges manufactured and sold by HP in official HP packaging. If non-Original HP supplies or refilled cartridges are installed, HP+ printers will not operate as expected.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Set up / enable HP+

HP+ printer setup (HP Smart app)

Important

HP Instant Ink Print-by-Page subscription can be added to HP+ (but is not required).
