I have had an unopened HP OfficeJet 3833 printer in my possession for a long time. I purchased it as a gift that was never given. Today, my 6810 printer bit the dust and so I attempted to set this one up. The printer came with an optical setup disc. As new PC laptops do not have optical drives, I attempted two different external CD drives to access the software. The discs rotated and searched in both drives but never loaded. I copied the disc to another disc and the same thing happened. I copied the disc to a USB thumb drive and attempted to access the setup but nothing happened. I searched the HP site before finally finding the all-in-one software for my printer. The process wasted hours. I was able to load the software from the original setup disc onto an older pc laptop with an incorporated drive but that is not the laptop I commonly use.
I am concerned about whether I will be able to switch this printer to a new pc if I need to. I appreciate any thoughts and suggestions.

That disk included with a printer is not for a WIN11 computer.
