As described in the title my printer only prints in black even when "test" pages print in full colour.

I discovered that when accessing the "properties" of the printer and trying to define my preferences it does not prompt to choose between colour and black mods.

According to the printer "doctor" app everything is OK; I swapped both ink cartridges with new ones and the subsequent alignment page comes out in full colour but, as soon as I select a document that contains colour the output is 100% black.

I've downloaded and installed the most current drivers but the problem remains. Is there a different driver that I don't know about it?

Please and thank you.

Hi @GP2CM

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

Try making a standalone copy in color and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

Install the printer using Windows built-in driver (Uninstall the previously installed driver)

Refer to this document to know how.

Try printing in color.

If the issue persists, Install the printer using TCP/IP port

1) Obtain the IP address of the printer by clicking on the wireless icon at the bottom of the printer screen
2) Right-click your printer, select Printer Properties, click the Ports tab and then click Add Port.
3) Select Standard TCP/IP Port, and then click New Port.
4) Follow the instructions to add a new port using the information listed on the Network Configuration Report.
5) Try printing.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

It is a software issue. When I ran any of the "test" pages (command going directly to printer) they print in full colour, the printer works just fine it's the software that is not working properly, it did work before for a long time!!

Who manages the printer: HP drivers or WIN 10?? That is the $64,000.00 question.

Thank you,

Juliol

P.S. I'm recovering from a heart attack so I'm lagging behind my comms.

@GP2CM

This is a software conflict between the HP printer drivers and the Win 10 OS. Kindly perform the steps provided in my previous post and let me know how it goes.

Keep me posted.

I followed up with HP support, problem not solved.

Kept digging and finally isolated the problem: exception code 0xe6d7363

I found a large number of posts from HP users with same problems over a number of years and across different HP printers. Lots of disasstified users who have spend a lot of hours chasing a solution which is inherent to HP.

Why is this faulty code still around???

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Community.

So far there are 107 posts related to this problem!!

Why is it that HP has yet to issue a patch to correct this problem???

Is it worth anyone's time and money buying a new HP printer???

Frustration level off the chart !!!!
