HP OfficeJet 3833 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,
reviewing threads of 2024, I realize that there is a conflict between OfficeJet 3830 driver and Windows 10 updates. Since my 3830 is needed, removing the HP driver is no solution.

Is there any current solution to let the recent 22H2 Win 10 Update  KB5062554 coexist with the 3830 drivers - not causing the issue 0x8007000d ?

Thanks
Moskito52

@Moskito52, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're experiencing a frustrating conflict between your HP OfficeJet 3833 All-in-One Printer driver and recent Windows 10 updates, specifically encountering error 0x800f020b (and mentioning 0x8007000d in your past review) with update KB5062554. I appreciate you've already reviewed existing threads and recognize that simply removing the driver isn't a viable solution for your needs.

While I can definitely guide you on troubleshooting this, please note that the Windows update KB5062554 you mentioned (and the associated error 0x8007000d) seems to be a very old update, potentially from early 2023 or even 2022. The error code 0x800f020b specifically points to an issue with an optional driver update that Windows Update is trying to install, which often relates to printer drivers.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to help resolve this issue while keeping your printer functional:

Uninstall Existing HP Printer Software

  1. Disconnect your printer from the PC (USB or network).
  2. Go to Start > Settings > Apps > Installed Apps.
  3. Locate HP OfficeJet 3830 or HP Smart, and click Uninstall.
  4. Confirm any prompts and restart your PC.

Remove Printer from Devices

  1. Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  2. Right-click on any icon for your HP OfficeJet 3830 and select Remove Device.
  3. If no icons are present, the printer has already been removed.

Reinstall the Latest HP Drivers

  1. Visit the official HP driver page for your printer:
    HP OfficeJet 3830 Driver Downloads
  2. Select Windows 10 (64-bit) as your OS.
  3. Download and install the Full Feature Software and Drivers package.
  4. Reconnect your printer and follow the setup instructions.

Optional: Pause Windows Updates

If the issue persists, you may temporarily pause updates:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
  • Click Pause updates for 7 days (or more under Advanced options).

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Your  posted "accepted solution"  for my problem does not seem to reflect the need to eliminate the PCL5 driver as well.   This driver was still installed, even after the HP laser printer had been removed from the printer list.
