Several days ago my router was offline.  I reset it, and tried to print a word document.  The printer did not respond, so I removed the printer and tried again to reinstall it, but it shows no printer available.  Now it shows for the past several days the following message:  HPD4C (HP OfficeJet 4650 series) (copy 1)  removing device - which it does not!  How can I get the printer reinstalled so I can print documents?

Hi @Sharon_E,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're having trouble reinstalling your HP OfficeJet 4650 series printer after encountering the "removing device" message, you can try the following steps to resolve the issue.

Restart Your Devices:

  • Power off your printer, computer, and router.
  • Wait for a minute, then turn them back on.
  • Allow all devices to restart and establish connections.

Check Printer Connections:

  • Ensure that the printer is properly connected to the power source and turned on.
  • Verify the USB or wireless connection between the printer and your computer.

Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Uninstall the existing printer drivers on your computer.
    • Go to "Control Panel" > "Devices and Printers."
    • Right-click on the printer icon and select "Remove device" or "Delete."
  • Download the latest printer drivers from the official HP website.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to install the drivers.

Update Router Firmware:

  • Access your router's web interface (usually by entering its IP address in a web browser).
  • Check for firmware updates and install them if available.
  • Restart the router after updating.

Check Network Connection:

  • Ensure that your computer and printer are connected to the same network.
  • If using a wireless connection, make sure the Wi-Fi password is correct.

HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool from the official HP website.
  • Follow the tool's instructions to troubleshoot and fix printer issues.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord.
  • Wait for a minute, then reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer.

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Make sure your operating system is up to date by checking for Windows updates.

Firewall/Antivirus Settings:

  • Check your firewall or antivirus settings to ensure they are not blocking the printer connection.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the issue and successfully reinstall your HP OfficeJet 4650 series printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
