@fitzy82, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

If you've forgotten the password to access the Embedded Web Server (EWS) for your HP OfficeJet Pro 6960 and a network reset didn't help, here are the steps you can follow to regain access:

Perform a Full Factory Reset
Since a network reset doesn't reset the EWS password, you'll need to do a full factory reset:

  • On the printer's touchscreen, go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore > Restore Factory Defaults.
  • Confirm the reset. This will erase all custom settings including the EWS password.

Reconnect the Printer to Your Network

  • After the reset, reconnect your printer to Wi-Fi using the Wireless Setup Wizard on the printer's touchscreen.
  • Once connected, print a Network Configuration Page to find the printer’s IP address:
    • Tap Information icon or go to Settings > Reports > Network Configuration Page.

Access the Embedded Web Server (EWS)

  • Open a web browser on a device connected to the same network.
  • Type the printer’s IP address directly into the browser’s address bar (not a search engine).
  • The EWS should open without requiring a password.

Set a New Password (Optional)

  • Once inside the EWS, go to Security or Settings tab.
  • Set a new administrator password if desired.
