HP OfficeJet Pro 8030
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I very recently purchased the OfficeJet Pro 8030, replacing a HP OfficeJet Pro 8610.

Windows "sees" the printer; the HP software loads and completes; printer set up properties are available from my desktop PC.

The printer is set up as the default printer.

The problem:

Any attempt to print activates the printer--then nothing. The document to be printed does not register in the print que. It does not print. Test Print yields the same result, every time.

My Dell laptop also running Windows 10, 64, works with it. The printer activates and prints.

I have tried multiple trouble shooting procedures.

Nada

Hi @obwilliams,

I'd like to help!

To better assist you -

  1.  I would like to know, is your router set to work on 2.4 GHz network or 5 GHz network band?
  2. What is the status of the wireless light on the printer, steady or blinking?

If the wireless blue light is solid, Try the below suggestions-

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor to check connectivity

Download a special version of HP Print and Scan Doctor specifically created to help with printer offline conditions.

  1. Download HP Print and Scan Doctor.

  2. Run HPPSdr.exe from the download location on your computer.

  3. Once HP Print and Scan Doctor opens, click Start, and then select your printer.

    • If your printer in not in the list, turn it off and on, and then click Retry.

    • If there is a connection problem, follow the instructions in HP Print and Scan Doctor.

  4. If a screen prompts you to turn on printer updates, click Yes.

  5. If a screen prompts you to make your printer the default printer, click Yes.

  6. Try to print. If the printer remains offline, continue to the next step.

Set a manual IP-

To set a manual IP and try the steps below -

--->Touch on the wifi icon ((i)) on the printer, and take down the IP address

--->Open a web browser (ex Chrome or Mozilla) and type in the printer's IP

--->then go to network ---> general ---> network protocols ---> select IPV4 only-->apply

--->go to wireless ---> wireless 802.11---> select manual ip ---> apply

--->Enter 8.8.8.8 for the first DNS and 8.8.4.4 for the second DNS.

--->then go to settings on the main ews page --> power management ---> select sleep mode to max 15min

Connect the printer to TCP/IP port- follow the below instructions-

--->Touch on the wifi icon ((i)) on the printer, and take down the IP address

a. Click Start/Devices and Printers.  Right-click on your HP Printer.  Select Printer Properties.  Select the Ports tab at the top.

b.    Select Add Port.  Select Standard TCP/IP Port.  Select New Port.

c.    Follow the Add Port Wizard.  Under Printer Name or IP Address, .  Example:  192.168.1.15.  The IP address will be copied under Port Name.

d.    Select Next and Finish the Wizard.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thank you very much for these suggestions.

First, to answer your questions, all the basic indicators are a "go." Steady blue light; IP address correct on both the printer end and the pc/client end. Both PC and printer on a 5 GHz network.

I had tried the first solution option multiple times already, so, on to the second.

I implemented each of the steps. No go, however:

I noticed that after these changes, I could print the "status report" from the ews page, but could NOT print a "test print" from Windows settings.

Could that difference be a clue to the problem?

Please print a network configuration report and share the results -

From the printer control panel, touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the Dashboard, touch ( Setup ), touch Reports, and then touch Network Configuration Page.

Keep me posted!
