I have set up my HP Office Jet Pro 8120e printer.  It won't print in colour, only black and white.  I have checked all my preferences on the computer settings and also supplies from the printer menu.  I have also checked that the cartridges are in correctly and that all packaging has been taken off.  How do I get it to print in colour.

I understand how frustrating it must be when your HP OfficeJet Pro 8120e isn’t printing in color despite everything being set up correctly. Don’t worry—let’s try a few steps to get this sorted out:

 

Double-check the Print Settings:

  • When you hit Print, select Printer Properties or Preferences (this might vary based on the app you're using).
  • Make sure the Color option is selected instead of Grayscale or Black & White.

Update or Reinstall the Printer Driver:

Sometimes outdated or corrupted drivers can cause printing issues:

  • Go to Device ManagerPrinters → Right-click on your printer → Update driver.
  • If that doesn’t help, uninstall the printer and reinstall it using the latest driver from the HP support website.

Clean the Printhead:

  • On the printer itself, go to SettingsMaintenanceClean Printhead.
  • This helps clear out any clogs that might be affecting color printing.

Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor:

HP offers a helpful tool that can diagnose and fix printing issues automatically. You can download it from here
