HP OfficeJet Pro 9015 All-in-One Printer

The printer keeps trying to download an update and it fails. Each time it attempts the printer goes offline for a while.  This happens continually throughout the day and is very frustrating.  I have tried disabling auto updates from HP Smart Advanced Settings but it won't let me.  I've tried turning the printer off and on again. I've tried forcing the download both over Wi-Fi and Ethernet. I've tried downloading the firmware update from HP Smart Advance Settings.  Nothing works and the issue remains.  Any suggestions are appreciated.

This is a problem on HP's side that only they can fix.  Until they can fix thier servers you will need to disable the automatic firmware updates:

Run the HP Smart application and choose "Printer Settings" which will take you to the embedded web GUI for the printer and then choose "SETTINGS" from the menu at the top.

On the left side click the + next to "Security" and choose "Administrator Settings"

Scroll all the way down to the bottom and uncheck both printer update boxes.

4 hours of being on the phone and troubleshooting with HP we were informed that the "chip allowing updates is faulty and cannot be replaced"

When asking the tech why this happened with their update released on August 15, they assured us "that has nothing to do with it."

Thanks.  I hope it works.  I made the suggested changes.  If HP wants me to continue with their ink replenish program, they've got to fix this, or I will go to the dreaded 3rd party print cartridge replacements for future purchases.

I never had an issue with my HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 series printer until HP pushed through this update. This is clearly HP’s problem to solve. Very annoying, hard to use the printer.

I have same problem.  Started Aug 15th or so....searched all forums for solutions..none work...there is one where you input a static IP address that supposedly resolves problem...but this seems to a HP problem to me...please keep me in the loop.  I'll try to turn off update printer items but I have no success in doing that so far.... 😞

Thank you Tom. I never would have found that setting on my own.  I have made the change and fingers are crossed all returns to normal.

Your instructions to disable printer updates using HP Smart worked fine. HP still needs to solve this problem.  Bob R.

Same issue here.  I turned off the Auto Updates but it still attempts however less often it seems.  I am no Windows 11.  We have two others with the same issue they are one Windows 10.  All 3 of us have HP OfficeJet Pro 9015.  This started for us on 8/15/23 as well.

Sqaw not happy anymore, must wait for download to fail before printing Food Network recipes.

HP "Smart App" no good, big can of worms.  I remove, now only use "Easy Scan".  No waiting to just scan.

Now must wait for HP code-jockies to push-out download fix.

Wait gimoozaabi, maybe code-jockies already try to push-out fix.

If true, code-jockies may walk for miles behind herd of many buffalo searching for solution.
