Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.
HP Recommended

Printer shows online from Network (EERO Router), but shows as offline (or not connected) from Windows HP Spectre laptop, and from HP Smart.   My internet speed was just upgraded so not sure if this is due to any firmware update needed or because the router is dual 2.4GHZ and 5GHz,  and the printer may just be 2.4 GHz.   It seems like I can print from my iPhone to  the printer - but not from my computer

Any ideas how to resolve this?

@Lol987, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Based on your description, it sounds like your HP OfficeJet Pro 9025 is connected to your EERO router (likely on the 2.4GHz band), but your Windows laptop and HP Smart app are unable to detect it. Since your iPhone can print successfully, the issue is likely related to network band compatibility, IP configuration, or Windows printer settings.

Here are step-by-step solutions to help resolve this:

Ensure Printer and PC Are on the Same Network Band

The OfficeJet Pro 9025 supports 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi. If your router uses a combined SSID for both bands, your PC might be connecting to 5GHz while the printer is on 2.4GHz, causing communication issues.

Solution:

  • Log into your EERO router settings.
  • Split the SSIDs for 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands (e.g., Home_2.4 and Home_5).
  • Connect both your printer and laptop to the 2.4GHz network.

Assign a Static IP to the Printer

This helps avoid IP conflicts and ensures consistent connectivity.

Steps:

  1. On the printer’s control panel, go to Settings > Network Setup > Wireless Settings > Advanced Settings > IP Settings.
  2. Set Manual IP and assign an IP like 192.168.1.150.
  3. Save and restart the printer.

Add Printer via TCP/IP Port in Windows

If Windows doesn’t detect the printer automatically, manually add it using its IP.

Steps:

  1. Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers > Add a Printer.
  2. Click “The printer I want isn’t listed”.
  3. Choose “Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname”.
  4. Enter the static IP you assigned earlier.
  5. Follow prompts to install the driver.

Use HP Smart’s Diagnose & Fix Tool

HP Smart includes a built-in tool to fix offline issues.

Steps:

  1. Open or install HP Smart for Windows.
  2. Click the wrench icon (bottom left).
  3. Select Diagnose & Fix and follow the instructions.

Update Printer Firmware

Firmware updates can resolve compatibility issues.

Options:

  • Via HP Smart App: Go to Printer Settings > Printer Maintenance > Firmware Update.
  • Via HP Support Site: Official HP® Support.

Restart Everything

  • Power off the printer, router, and laptop.
  • Wait 30 seconds.
  • Power them back on in this order: router → printer → laptop
