Hi TomAlv, I have HP Smart but when I click the Printer Settings tab, the only thing that shows on the left side is Settings >Privacy Preference. It does not allow me to select settings. It only displays Privacy Preferences.

I do not see any of what you said...

On the left side click the + next to "Security" and choose "Administrator Settings"

Scroll all the way down to the bottom and uncheck both printer update boxes.

I cannot find Administrator Settings. Where do I find this?

Where do I find Admin settings for my 9025 printer??

Burch 23, You go to the URL for your printer. Print out the Printer Status Report and it shows there. Do NOT use HP Smart app.

Thanks for this info!  Went in and unchecked updates!  Fingers crossed!

Why is it taking HP so long to fix this problem which is adversely affecting so many of us?

I continue to have the same problem.

The HP Smart app is installed with the Driver package on a Mac. Look in your applications for it.

Here are detailed instructions using the HP Smart App on a Mac for the OfficeJet Pro 9025. HP has buried auto-update setting.

HP OfficeJet Pro 9025 Auto-update disable for Mac

0. Install HP Smart App. Here is the link for MacOS 10.15, If you have a different OS just change the setting at the top of the page. https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-officejet-pro-9020-all-in-one-printer-series/239...

1. Open HP Smart app
2. Select printer
3. Click on Printer Settings bottom left hand corner.
4. Click on Advanced Settings in the left hand column
5. Click on Settings in the menu at the top of the page
6. Scroll down the page and click on Security
7. Click on Administrator Settings
8. If you get a pop warning, click OK
9. Scroll down and unclick "All Firmware Updates" under Printer Updates.
10. I also unchecked HP Instant Ink under Web Services Settings. I buy ink when I need it.

Hi Brian, I'm on a mac so it maybe different for your system.  I go to System preferences, click Printers & Scanners, select my 9025 HP which opens next window.  On right side click on Options and Supplies which gives next window which has button in middle of window "Show Printer Web Page."  This next window is the HP 9025 Embedded Web Server.  Next click the last tab on top for Settings.  On left side it shows Security and sub menu Administrator Settings.  This assumes you are the one that set up your printer to then access the various settings to turn on or off.  All way to bottom shows Printer Updates which I unchecked and I'm no longer getting the circle jerk "Downloading" which never does or never completes the task.  HP needs to fix this issue  as there does appear to be a firmware update but since I cannot get to download correctly, I don't know what version the update actually is.  Very Frustrating!
