Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I recently got a new laptop and have been unable to connect my HP Officejet 4500 G510n-z printer to any scanning software.  I can print fine.  I have tried many routes and each lead to reinstalling the drivers (and associated software - which there is none).  I have done this several times.

I have tried with HP Smart, HP Scan and Capture, I tried to get HP Solutions Center but that was not compatible with my system.  I am at a loss.  My printer works beautifully so I don't want to be forced into buying another one to scan.
