@mathew100, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If your HP Officejet 8610 is able to receive faxes but unable to send them, and there is no dial-tone detected, the issue might be related to the PBX system that you are using. You can try disabling the dial-tone recognition to resolve this problem. Here's how you can do that:

Access the Printer Control Panel:

  • Make sure your HP Officejet 8610 is powered on.

Navigate to Fax Settings:

  • On the Home screen, use your finger to slide across and find the Fax Setup option.

Locate Dial Tone Detection Settings:

  • Search for an option related to dialing or dial settings within the Fax Setup menu.

Disable Dial-Tone Detection:

  • If there is a specific setting named "Detect Dial Tone," turn it off. Disabling this feature can help bypass the unnecessary detection of dial tones, especially in a PBX environment where dial tones may function differently or not be present.

Test Sending a Fax:

  • Try sending a fax again to see if disabling the dial-tone detection resolves the issue.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

hello,

there is suddenly no option to disable the dial tone detection.

I checked the setup-menü already several times.
Was this implemented in a later firmware-release and i have to update the printer-software?

Best regards

Hey @mathew100,

Thank you for your response

I recommend updating the printer's firmware to the latest version. Additionally, please review the available options on the printer's EWS (Embedded Web Server) page

Update Printer Firmware (Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support)

  • Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. Enter your printer model number and search for the latest firmware update. Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.

Let me know how it goes.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
