HP Officejet J3680 All-in-One

From the HP Customer Support (https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/closure/hp-officejet-j3600-all-in-one-printer-serie... Software and Driver Downloads I downloaded the following:
Product: HP Officejet J3680 All-in-One Printer, FileHP Officejet Full Feature Software and DriverOperating systemWindows 10 : 64-bitFile size212.3 MBFile NameOJ_AIO_J3600_Full_Win_WW_140_408-4.exe.
Following the download & installation when I opened my Printers & Scanners devices I found "HP Officejet J3600 series fax" & right under that in parenthesis "(offline)".
What's up with that?

Welcome to the HP Forums. I would be happy to help you with your HP Officejet J3680 Printer. I understand that you are getting printer offline issue and you have already done some preliminary troubleshooting.

Don't worry though as I have a few steps to determine the issue and find a solution as well.

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor to check connectivity.

Set the default printer and unpause printing.

Make sure the correct port is selected.

Update the printer firmware.

Add a second printer device to Windows.

Add the printer using HP Printer Assistant.

Click here and refer the document to perform the above steps.

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers.
