Hi there, Hoping someone can help me! I set up my HP Officejet Pro 6230 ePrinter successfully and was able to print from my computer with no problem! A couple weeks have passed since then and my computer can no longer connect to the printer. I know that my printer is connected to the internet, and I am able to print if I email the document to the printer. However, when I try to run HP Easy Start or try to find the printer on my settings>add printer, it just can't find the printer. I'm not opposed to resetting to factory settings, but I have no idea how to do this.

@kgn89438, Welcome to HP Support Community!
To be able to assist you better, I would like to know the following:
- Are the printer and PC connected to the same network?
- Is your router dual-band enabled i.e., both 2.4GHz and 5GHz?
- What is the distance between the router and the printer?
- Is there any antivirus software installed on your computer?
- Could you perform a ping test using the Mac Network Utility and let me know the results?
Use the printer IP address to perform a ping test, the printer IP can be located by selecting the wireless icon on the printer display.
The wireless status menu on your Mac should also give us quite a lot of information that would help us identify the issue. You can press and hold option-click the WiFi icon and then use shift-command-5 to take the screenshot. Press the space bar when the icon turns into a camera. Share the ping test results and the screenshot with us.
Also, check with your Internet service provider if your router is able to forward 'Bonjour packets'.
Bonjour locates devices such as printers, other computers, and the services that those devices offer on a local network using multicast Domain Name System (mDNS) service records. The software comes built-in with Apple's macOS and iOS operating systems.
Keep me posted for further assistance.

Thank you so much for getting back to me!! In a panic, I deleted the printer from my computer and re-set up the printer just using the USB connection. Now, the printer is NOT connected to the internet, so I'm not sure if the answers to your questions will help us at this point?
I tried to set it up again using the HP Easy Start program, and the program cannot find the printer. (Last time it took a while for it to find it, but eventually I was able to get it to work.) Any suggestions of how I can set up the printer again with wifi from scratch?

Connect a printer that does not have a touchscreen control panel
Use Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS), HP Smart, or temporarily connect a USB cable to establish a wireless connection between your printer and network.
Step 1: Connect the printer with WPS
Use WPS to connect the printer to your wireless network.
-
Locate the WPS button on your router, but do not press it yet.
If your router does not support WPS, skip to the next step to connect the printer with the HP Smart app.
-
Turn on the printer. If the printer is in sleep mode, press the Cancel button on the control panel.
-
On the printer control panel, press and hold the Wireless button
for at least 3 seconds or until the wireless light starts to flash.
NOTE:
HP Tango printers: Press and hold the Wireless and Power buttons on the back of the printer for 5 seconds. The Edge lighting flashes blue to indicate the printer is in WPS mode.
-
On the router, press and hold the WPS button for 3 to 5 seconds or until it shows that the WPS connection process has started.
NOTE:
The printer stops searching for a WPS connection two minutes after the wireless button is pressed. If you were unable to press the WPS button within that timeframe, attempt these steps again.
Once the printer connects to the wireless network, the blue Wireless light on the control panel turns on solid.
If this does not work, you can refer to the document HP Printers - No Connection section Connect a printer that does not have a touchscreen control panel(Step 3)
Configure the printer and try printing.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi there,
Unfortunately, our wireless router does not have a WPS button on it.
I tried to convert the printer to wireless using a USB connection. However, when I ran the HP Utility - Wireless Setup process, in the stage "Configuring Device," I received the following error message:

Thank you for the response. Check if the MAC is connected to a network.
- The wireless status menu on your Mac should also give us quite a lot of information that would help us identify the issue. You can press and hold the option key on your keyboard and click the WiFi icon to get detailed information.
- You can press and hold option-click the WiFi icon and then use shift-command-5 to take the screenshot and share it in your next post. Press the space bar when the icon turns into a camera.
- Once done, try using the HP utility again to convert USB to wireless. If the issue persists, proceed to the next step.
Use HP wireless direct to connect the printer and the MAC
- On the printer control panel, press the ( HP wireless direct ) button to turn the HP wireless direct feature on.
- Pressing the ( HP wireless direct ) button the first time will turn on HP wireless direct and print the HP Wireless Direct Guide. The guide includes the HP wireless direct network name and password.
- After the first time, you can press the ( HP wireless direct ) button and the ( Information ) button together to print the HP Wireless Direct Guide.
To connect the printer follow these steps:
- On the MAC, click the wireless icon
, select your Wi-Fi Direct printer name from the list of available networks, and then enter the password. Default password being 12345678
- The password can be found on the HP Wireless Direct Guide that was printed before.
- Note: Once connected, you will not have the internet access on the MAC.
- Now Open safari, in the address bar type in: 192.168.223.1 and click on go.
- If you get any security notification, click on show details/advanced and 'proceed to this website'.
- Check if you are able to access the Home page of the printer, once there go to Network/wireless > Wireless setup wizard and follow the On-screen instructions to connect the printer to your wireless network.
- Once done, click on the Wireless icon on the MAC and connect it to your Wireless network.
- Add the printer in system preferences with AirPrint driver and try printing.
Let me know how this goes.
