My HP Officejet Pro 6970 suddenly stopped working. I have spent hours trying to fix it in vain. I have followed all common sense and suggested trouble shooting. (Yes, I updated Windows, rebooted the computer, reset the wireless network, turned off and unplugged the computer, wireless router, physical printer, restarted and rebooted again, updated the drivers, following all troubleshooting options; when that failed I uninstalled and completely removed and deleted all HP software and drivers and then reinstalled and updated them (three times now); I tried the virtual assistant; I tried individually downloading and installing all software and divers from the HP website both in packages and individually. I repeated this process two or three more times. I tried downloading the HP Printer Doctor software. I sent back the error reports and followed the suggested fix, which was to basically to re-install the software). Whenever I get to the end of the software installation, I get an an error message saying: "Unsuccessful Network Installation: The device was unable to be installed over the network." And no, there is nothing wrong with my wireless network. My other WIFI enabled devices are working just fine and I have 100 signal strength. And as previously mentioned, I tried resetting, unplugging, rebooting, etc. Whenever I try to connect in the usual way for a WIFI enabled printer on a Windows 10 system, (problems notwithstanding) I get the following error message: "Enter the WPS PIN for your printer." It continues: "You can find he WPS PIN on your DIRECT-FC-HP OfficeJet Pro 6970 or in the info that came with it." I can tell you that NOWHERE on the user-interface on the actual printer does it list or even reference a WPS PIN. It displays the model number, the serial number, the service ID number, the Ethernet MAC address, the Wireless MAC address, the Firmware Version, among other information. I have tried every combination of these to no avail. There is nothing in the user manual (yes I kept it) that even mentions a WPS PIN. Some online forums say the problem is the result of a recent Windows Update. The HP site even has a pop-up link about fixing the recent Windows 10 update problem. That link goes to a 404 not found page. After digging around the site, I found more detailed instructions, but this is more of what I have already done: delete the software, download the software, run HP Print Doctor software, etc., etc., etc. I am on the verge of having an "Office Space moment" with my HP Officejet Pro 6970 printer. Is anyone else having this problem? If so, what have you done to correct it?
Sincerely,
