My printer keeps trying and failing to do a firmware update. Once the update has failed, the printer is offline and unable to print until it's rebooted. Having to reboot the printer every time I want to print is making the printer almost unusable and quite possibly the most frustrating thing I have ever owned.
I have tried the update from the printer
I have tried from HP Smart (which just redirects you to the printer's web interface)
I have tried to find the firmware on the HP Support page but it does not show any (despite it saying there is a critical update to apply - clicking on that just takes you back to the same software update page that has no firmware to download on it)
I cannot turn the auto-updates off because I have the added misfortune of being a HP Instant Ink customer.
The HP forums are full of other people complaining about this, why are HP not providing a fix to their customers?

I have the exact same problem and have tried all the suggested remedies without success. As the original poster says there are many others getting the same problem and it's about time it was rectified if you want to maintain their support.

How do we call you directly on this issue? From your phone calls what is the most common solution - as people have said this is impacting lots of customers so it seems sensible to provide some sort of hope to all of us! I am one step for never using HP printers again if this cannot get resolved.
