So I noticed there is an updated firmware available here dated 16th May.  I just downloaded it and it installed so just hoping it has solved the problem.

Thanks for mentioning this. I just tried it and it seemed to download on the printer and got to 100%. Very promising and then came up with the message saying the update failed again.

Strange, the message I got was something like "the latest software has been installed" or something to that effect.

Just checked again by getting the printer to check for updates and it says no update available.  I now have the following version:

Firmware Version MALBECPP1N001.2314A.00
Built Date 2023-04-05

I tried again and still get the update failed window. Oh well never mind.

Well done Thescouselander! New firmware downloaded and successfully installed. Let's see if it makes any difference......

@TAMSONS Have you tried restarting the printer from cold (mine has been off for a while) and then try the install?  Also have you defiantly got the right version of the update; I've got several versions of this updater with very similar naming so its easy to mix them up.  Maybe download again just to be sure.

I got the same.

downloaded to 100% and then my favourite error message returns!!!

Thanks Thescouselander for your update. I have just downloaded the firmware update (OJP8020_8030_2314A.exe May16, 2023) from the HP Software and Driver Downloads area and it has installed successfully. The process I used was from the HP Smart App and click on the spanner lick in the bottom left hand corner as this checks that the printer is connected and working before trying to do the update. Click Start and when it has finished its Diagnose and Fix (Diagnosis complete and no issues were found) click on the Software Downloads link.

Hopefully this update has fixed the problem so thanks to HP for getting it done. Also thanks to everybody who provided your experiences and actions.

Tried this myself today and it also seems to have fixed the issue. I have subsequently checked for updates using the printer screen and this now says that the printer is up to date rather than trying to install an update which gets stuck.

Tried the above using the ios app. Still the same for me, assuming this was on done on Windows or MacOS to get it to work?
