is there anyone who managed to get the latest FW form 2020 to install?
I tried everything with no success. I have to assume there is a way or does HP post a FW exe file that has never been tested?
My hunch: the format of the serial number is the issue. When I tried to identify the printer with my serial on hp.com, hp did not recognize.
When using the HP detector tool it finds the printer. However, it truncates the serial somehow.

I think we have a bit the chicken and the egg situation as SSL is required for firmware update to fix SSL
Status:
1.) from printer: does not work - getting error (fyi, I checked there is no firewall blocking)
2.) Download FW from HP: does not work. After executing the exe it finds the printer. However, I can't check the printer to update
3.) Smartapp - EWS: does not work as advanced features require SSL. This does not work as the new FW with SSL is required.
Please advice on next steps.

Hi, I replied back to you in the PM. However, I was unable to resolve the issue.
And I pointed out that the serial number in my printer is not recognized by the online look-up tool. However, if I use the HP detector SW it finds the printer - with a shorter serial. Could it be that the FW update issue exists due to the fact the update tool confused by the serial numbers?
Again, after downloading the correct FW update file I can't check the box next to printer to perform update.

here is one of many of failed attempts of owners trying to get help for the firmware update not working:
So, HP used an old SSL support layer which required a new firmware. HP published it, but nobody was ever able to install it...
