HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One Printer

I recently upgraded to a 2 terabyte hard drive and lost the software I had been using to control my HP Officejet Pro 8620 printer. That software allowed me to select the printer options (print, scan, etc.) from my computer screen rather than leaning over to reach the printer control screen. I am  unable to locate this software on the HP support site.

All suggestions are welcome.

Hi @PKSuiter,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're looking for the software to control your HP Officejet Pro 8620 printer from your computer, you'll typically need to download the full feature software and drivers package from the HP website. Here’s how you can do it.

  • Visit the HP Support Website: Go to the official HP support website. The URL is usually something like support.hp.com.
  • Enter Your Printer Model: Enter "Officejet Pro 8620" into the search box on the HP website and select your printer model from the list that appears.
  • Select Your Operating System: Make sure to choose the correct operating system that your computer is running (e.g., Windows 10, macOS).
  • Download the Full Feature Software: Look for the section that offers the full feature software and drivers. This package includes everything you need to control your printer from your computer, including scanning and other functions.
  • Install the Software: Once downloaded, run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions to install the software on your computer.
  • Set Up Your Printer: During the installation process, the software will typically guide you through setting up your printer connection. Make sure your printer is powered on and connected to your computer via USB or network.
  • Use the HP Printer Assistant: After installation, you should have access to the HP Printer Assistant or a similar utility depending on your operating system. This tool allows you to manage print jobs, scan documents, check ink levels, and perform maintenance tasks directly from your computer.
  • If you’re unable to find the software on the HP support site or encounter any issues during installation, you can also try the following:
  • HP Easy Start (for macOS): If you are using a Mac, you can use HP Easy Start, which is a guided software installation and printer setup for macOS.
  • Windows Update: Sometimes Windows Update can automatically install basic drivers for your printer, but for full functionality, it's recommended to use the software from the HP website.

By following these steps, you should be able to regain the ability to control your HP Officejet Pro 8620 printer from your computer screen.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
