Hello, I just purchased an OfficeJet Pro 8710 last week. I came home and connected it to my laptop, thought I had set it up and was able to print that day. I was very happy!
A few days later I was unable to print on the fly. It seemed as the wireless option was not working so I plugged a cable. None of those things happened.
Thinking (wrong, now I know) I deleted the fax officejet pro 8710 since it was the automatic option when I wanted to print. I then deleted one of the two printers (one with USB and one with Network). I tried uninstalling from the list of programs, from everywhere possible following the instructions from other posts.
I tried recovering it but was not able to do so.
Now, my computer says that the printer is ready to print but there is no printer 'icon' under my pritners and scanners.
I read the reviews before buying and there were quite a few users saying that their printer went offline (it did that too for me) and that it took forever to get it to print if you did not use it for a while). I should have listened, now I am in the same boat without a solution!
Should I just return it and wait for a better version or patches for this model?
In conclusion: I need to know how to COMPLETELY DELETE/UNINSTALL this printer (I tried doing it but my computer seems to 'think' it is there!!). Especially, I need to be able to add the printer again to the printers and scanners which I am unable to do, it says there is an error to try again.
Because I am technologically challenged, aka I don't really know what to do, I have done many, many 'solutions' that turned out not to be such, so I need step-by-step instructions please, to know what to delete/uninstall and how to start the installation from scratch.
My printer by the way, is read and able (according to the window on it) to accept my printing, including wireless, there just seems to be a break in communication between the laptop and the printer. Irony is that they are both HP and cannot talk to each other, grrr...
I saw one person having to contact HP to get a replacement. If that is the case, should I buy a different model all together, like the 8720, is it better for connecting to the laptop?
Thanks in advace and sorry for the long message, I just want you to know exactly what is going on.
By the way, my computer uses Windows 10 and it is a 64bits.
Thanks again, DesperateMe

Welcome to HP Support Community
I suggest you uninstall the printer driver from root level and download the full feature software
1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’
6.) Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
8.) Click on the “Drivers” tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
13.) Restart the computer and download the Full Feature Software from Here and follow the onscreen Instructions
Keep me posted how it goes 😊

Thanks so much, KrazyToad for your instructions. Let me try that and get back to you.
Somehow, I was able to get the icon back on the list of printers yesterday. I have not tried to print today but will try then follow your instructions.
Thanks again, Desperate Me 🙂

Hello KrazyToad,
I wanted to let you know that somehow the printer has 'behaved' and printed when I required it, so for now I think I will close this ticket and certainly keep your instructions above just in case.
You can't imagine how grateful I am to you and to all the people in the forum who take the time to help people like me, who have no idea about technology. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!!
And, even though I don't mean to be rude, I hope I don't have to talk to you again in a long time! ☺☺☺
Happy Easter, Arke
