Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

The PC is brand new Windows 10 64 bit ver 1903 with Microsoft Office 2016 Home & Business.

On the new HP printer software Scan i click 'scan PDF to E-mail'  but when the scan is in preview to the screen when going further there is a fast popup windows that dissapear with the messsage saving….. i cannot read it because it is gone so fast.

Nothing happens in Outlook 2016 so there is no new mail with the PDF attachment . When i go to the settings page the setting is set for Outlook.

When using the new APP there is only option to scan to Windows 10 mail and NOT OUTLOOK.

So i dont understand a Officejet PRO printer and not a working connection to Outlook.

Any suggestions are more than welcome.

Thanks

Didier

Hi Didier,

A scan PDF to E-mail shortcut on the printer is a scan shortcut provided by Windows 10 WSD Services, a such allow limited functionality to the Microsoft Mail native app only.

Scanning to Outlook can be done from the HP Scan software, assuming the HP Full Feature Software has been installed.

From the HP Officejet Pro 9010 software select Scan and then Scan a Document or Photo, from there select Email as PDF and it will launch MS Outlook if it is configured as your default mail application.

Also, click Manage Scan to Computer on the software and ensure it is enabled, the option name is listed at the top.

From the printer front panel click Scan > Computer and select this EXACT option (without any added word).

Click Save as PDF and select Email as PDF instead, then start the scan job.

If the HP Full Feature Software is not installed, follow HP Easy Start and be sure to install the HP Full Feature Software, then follow my steps above:

Hello,

Thanks for the answer.

The full software is installed . There is on the desktop a extra icon for scanning when i use this program i can select there  File Type : PDF  Filename :  Scan.pdf   Send to :  E-mail      E-mail clients : Outlook

Those are the settings that i have done.

When scanning the scan is made but at the end when clicking on "Send' there is a message window that goes away verry fast so i cannot read what is in there.

So outlook is not starting with the attachment in a new mail. Already set outlook open so that the program is already active  same problem.

In windows 10 the default mail app is set to Outlook . That was on 'Mail'  when i installed the software maybe there is a bug in the installation that the settings are made when installing and cannot be changed after ?

Thanks

Best regards

Didier

Having the same problem and thought I'd give this article a bump...

Specs:

- HP OfficeJet Pro 9015

- Dell Optiplex 3060

- Windows 10 v1903 (64 bit)

- Microsoft Office365 (64 bit)

Diagnosis:

Scan to e-mail does not work. The document scans and generates a preview, however, clicking the Send button briefly displays a progress window "Saving to file" and then disappears. All other functionality seems to work OK.

Troubleshooting steps taken:

- Firmware updated to latest version

- Full re-installation of all HP products

- Switch default mail application from Outlook to Windows Mail and back again (the software does not recognize this change, and only displays Outlook in the e-mail drop down, regardless of the default app set at the OS level)

Any further help would greatly be appreciated

Hi,

If you right-click any file on your computer and select Send To > Mail Recipient, does it launch a New Message with the file attached as expected for the operating system and Outlook to response for such, or may it show any other behavior?

ShlomiL - Yes. We are currently using this method as a workaround until a permanent fix is found.

Edit: I am commenting on behalf of my own experience with this issue and not the OP

Thanks for clarifying!

Please try going through these steps and check if that may work, many users report for such to resolve the error and allow both applications to communicate together:

Hope that may help,

Shlomi

ShlomiL - I don't think the article you posted is applicable here. The suggested registry modifications apply to Windows Live Mail, depreciated software that is not available in Windows 10, and essentially tells you to copy the regkey WLMAIL.EXE and rename it to OUTLOOK.EXE as a fix.

As shown below, the app path for OUTLOOK already appears to be valid

Your help is greatly appreciated, but there has to be a better solution out there...

Perhaps a software update from HP? One can always hope

UPDATE: After downgrading Office365 to 32-bit, we were able to scan to e-mail using the HP desktop app.

Hope this helps!

Hello,

I can't remember if i installed a 32 bit or 64 bit office 2016 on the client his new windows 10 pc.  I did standard install i think so i wil be 64 bit i think.

Until now the problem is not solved.

HP didn't do any updates on the software .

I dont understand it is like they dont test their software  before release it .

Thanks for the update.

Best regards
