HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just bought a new HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e.

The product name  on the front  of the printer is HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e. This is also the name on box the printer came in, and it is the name used in this forum.

But almost all the software associated with the printer uses the name "HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 Series" . This includes the name used in the printer's own display. It also includes the name which is found when an instance of HP Smart looks for the printer on the network (I see this on WIndows 10, iPhone, and MacOS 12.2.1). "OfficeJet Pro 9010 " is also what appears in the select printer dropdown when printing from WIndows and Macintosh.

Why can't all this software use the name of the printer I bought? This has made the install process for my new printer very confusing!

@wroxdfg, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand your concern. However, HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e belongs to HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 printer series. The software is made for a series of printers.

Hence, the software display as HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 instead of HP OfficeJet Pro 9015. You need not worry about this.

I hope this answers your query adequately. Let me know.

It is clear to me now that the Officejet Pro 9051e is part of the 9010 family. But I do not track HP's  printer product line and did not know about the 9010 family when I installed the 9051e. I still think the install is needlessly confusing.

@wroxdfg

I understand. I will pass on this feedback to the respective team in HP.
