HP P1606dn only prints on the short edge. I select for it to print on the long edge in the printer setup but it still only prints on the short edge. How do I get the printer to print two sided on the long edge?

Hi @Mike3981,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP LaserJet Pro P1606dn printer is not printing double-sided (duplex) documents as expected with the selected "long edge" option, you can try the following steps to resolve the issue.
Check Printer Driver Settings:
- Open the Print dialog box on your computer when you are about to print.
- Click on "Printer Properties" or "Printer Preferences."
- Look for the duplex printing option in the settings. It should be set to "Long Edge" or "Automatic" for duplex printing.
Update Printer Drivers:
- Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed on your computer. You can visit the HP support website and download the latest drivers for your printer model.
Printer Firmware Update:
- Sometimes, updating the printer's firmware can resolve printing issues. Check HP's official website for firmware updates for your printer model and follow the instructions to update it.
Reset Printer Preferences:
- If the problem persists, you can reset the printer preferences to their default settings. To do this:
- Go to "Control Panel" or "Settings" on your computer.
- Select "Devices" or "Printers & Scanners."
- Locate your HP LaserJet Pro P1606dn printer and right-click on it.
- Choose "Printer Properties" or "Printer Preferences."
- Look for an option to reset preferences or settings to default.
Manual Duplex Printing:
- If none of the above solutions work, you can manually perform duplex printing. Here's how:
- Print all odd-numbered pages first. After these pages are printed, remove them from the output tray.
- Place the printed pages back into the paper tray or feeder with the blank side up.
- Print all even-numbered pages on the back of the odd-numbered pages.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
