It sounds like you're facing a challenging situation with your HP Photosmart 7900 Series and HP Deskjet 820Cxi/820 Cse printers, both of which stopped working simultaneously when printing from the Windows Word program. Let’s work through some troubleshooting steps to address this.

 

Verify Printer Connections

  • Ensure both printers are securely connected to your computer (via USB or network).
  • Check the power cords and turn both printers on.

Set the Correct Default Printer

  • Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers (or Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Printers & Scanners in Windows 10/11).
  • Right-click on your HP Photosmart 7900 or Deskjet 820Cxi and select Set as Default Printer.

Clear the Print Queue

  • Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click the printer, select See what’s printing, and clear any stuck print jobs.

Reinstall Printer Drivers

  • Uninstall Old Drivers:
    • Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features, find any drivers related to the HP Photosmart 7900 and Deskjet 820Cxi, and uninstall them.
  • Reinstall Drivers:
    • Visit HP's driver support page and download the latest drivers for both printers. Ensure you download the drivers compatible with your version of Windows.
  • Restart your computer after reinstalling the drivers.

Try Printing a Test Page

  • Right-click your printer in Devices and Printers and select Printer Properties.
  • Click Print Test Page to confirm if the issue is specific to Word.

Check Microsoft Word Settings

  • Ensure the correct printer is selected in Word:
    • Go to File > Print and select the desired printer.
  • Try printing to a different printer (if available) to confirm the issue is not with Word itself.

Run the Printer Troubleshooter

  • In Windows:
    • Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other Troubleshooters (or Control Panel > Troubleshooting).
    • Select Printer Troubleshooter and follow the instructions.

Address Ink Smearing on Mailing Labels

  • If the Photosmart 7900 isn’t printing labels properly:
    • Use HP Advanced Photo Paper or similar label paper designed for inkjet printers.
    • Ensure the media type in the printer settings matches the type of labels you're using (adjust in Printer Preferences).

Check for Software Conflicts

  • Disable any third-party print management software that may interfere with the print process.
  • Update Microsoft Word to the latest version via Office Updates.

Try Printing from Another Application

  • Use a different program, such as Notepad, to print a sample text. This can help determine if the issue is with Word or the printers.

I now have of 20 Hours Following the Original Manuel and I have the C/ D  ( OEM) The Control Panel ( Printer is showing the Wrong Printer Driver= == I am having trouble following the instruction removing ( deleting it ) I need HP live Support by Phone ) I need to print something  that only my HP Photosmart 9650 can print it with our ink smudge's.
