I have an old HP Photosmart C5180 All-in-one Printer, Scanner, Copier which I use with a MacBook Pro which is the latest model. All of a sudden the print request has failed and I get the message "Stopped Filter Failure. When pressing  information, it states that one or more components of the HP printing software are corrupt or missing, to fix HP recommend reinstalling the print drive software. I have tried this twice with no success but notice that the download system states that the ~Certificate is out of date but will allow you to proceed. Is there anyone out there who can advise how to repair for are HP forcing me to purchase a newer printer.

Hi @RogerFB,

I'd like to help!

Try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

Uninstall the printer software -

1. Click Finder in the Dock.

2. In the menu bar, click Go, click Applications, and then open the HP or Hewlett Packard folder.

a) If HP Uninstaller is in the folder, double click it, and then follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall the software.

b) If HP Uninstaller is not in the folder, continue to the next step.

3. Click and drag the HP or Hewlett Packard folder to the Trash icon in the Dock.

4. In the menu bar, click Go, click Go to Folder, type /Library/Printers, then click Go.

The Printers folder opens.

5. Click and drag the HP or Hewlett Packard folder to the Trash icon in the Dock.

6. Restart the Mac.

7. Right-click or Ctrl + click the Trash icon, and then select Empty Trash.

Reinstall the software -Software and drivers for HP Photosmart C5180 All-in-One Printer

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
