I'm trying to fix a scanning issue. (It will scan but then won't save). That might need another forum post.

So I've opened HP Printer Assistant. In Tools I click on HP Print and Scan Doctor. (The irony of me having problems with the very tool that's designed to fix problems is not lost on me.)

When I click on HP Print and Scan Doctor It asks me if i want to run this file. The file being HPPSdr.exe.

I click Run. It extracts. User account control asks me I want to run this. I say Yes.

HP Print and Scan Doctor tells me

Another instance of this application is already running.

Now I've already looked up the HP forums and on one post it said to go into Windows Task Manager and end any HP processes. When I look, there is HP Print and Scan Doctor 5.1. HP Diagnostice Core UI.exe *32 listed in Processes.

How do I get to it? If it's running, why doesn't it run from inside HP Print Assistant? If I close it down, and I click HP Print and Scan Doctor from the Printer Assistant it just takes me through the routine.

Hi @ScanMan2000,

I'd like to help!

Are you able to make copies using the printer?

If yes,

Let's try and uninstall the printer software from the root level on your PC and install the full feature printer software.

--->In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.

--->Select your HP printer.

--->Select Uninstall.

--->In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.

--->In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”

--->Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.

--->Type printui.exe /s and click OK.

--->Click on the Drivers tab.

--->Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click remove at the bottom.

--->Select OK.

--->Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.

--->Close Devices and Printers.

And then reinstall the printer full-featured drivers from software and drivers page

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
