HP Print and Scan Doctorr stoped working after automatic update and now won't run.
When I try to run  HPPSdr.exe, nothing happens.
As suggested in this post
https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Scanning-Faxing-Copying/HP-Print-and-Scan-Doctor-does-not-open-properl...
i've tried to download HP Support Assistant but it seems a corrupted file: I've downloaded it from a few PC but none of them are able to properly extract the file content (it rises a checksum error).
HP Print and Scan doctor is not listed in my installed program list.
I've removed HP\Diagnostic folder.

Is there a way to make it working again?

Thank you
Best regards

I might not understand what you are trying to do.

HP Print and Scan Doctor is one thing.

HP Support Assistant is another thing.

Not the same things.

=======================================================================

1.  and 3.  The doctor is used to diagnose and fix some types of issues with your printer.

HP Print and Scan Doctor runs directly from a downloaded file.  After downloading, check in your Downloads folder.

Use of the Doctor is not mandatory though it does automate some of the "fix it" options if your printer is having problems.

Resource – Choose the right doctor for the job

Open Website

HP Print and Scan Doctor for Windows

Click the green Download Now option / box

Wait!

If the problem / issue is one of

  • Printer is Offline
  • Cannot print in Color
  • Duplex printing has disappeared

Try this Doctor version:

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/printers/hppsdr/patches/HPPSdr.exe

NOTES – The “Offline” doctor

As a result of repairing issues,

Offline / Color check / Duplex check version of the Doctor may replace the printer or add a “(Copy 1)” version of the driver in Devices and Printers.

If there are two printers in Devices and Printers,

If one of them does not work,

Try sending your job to the “Copy 1” named printer.

If you want / need to rename the “Copy 1” printer:

Open Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers

Right-Click on the printer name > Printer Properties > Tab General >

In the top box, Edit the name of the printer (For example, remove the part that says “Copy 1”)

Click Apply / OK to save change

NOTE:  The name change may take a bit of time (a few minutes), else Restart the computer and log in.

==============================================================================

2.  HP Support Assistant is used to check / possibly update / provide tools for your computer.  In addition, although it has naught to do with whether the printer is functional, HP Support Assistant can "add" and monitor your printer.

When installed...

Whether HP Support Assistant is listed in Programs and Features depends on the type of installed Support Assistant.

The "Software" type of HP Support Assistant is listed in Control Panel > icon view > Programs and Features

The "Application" type of HP Support Assistant is NOT listed in Control Panel > icon view > Programs and Features

Either type of the HP Support Assistant can be listed in Settings > Apps > Apps and Features

Confused?

Not surprising.  It can be messy.

Uninstall the HPSA

Select and uninstall the HPSA type you have installed on your computer...

Uninstall HP Support Assistant Software

FIRST > Uninstall the HP Support Assistant

Control Panel > icon view > Programs and Features

Scroll down, find, Uninstall the HP Support Assistant

Important:  When / If asked whether you want to save any presets / personal HPSA information, respond to have your personal data associated with the program removed along with the HPSA software.

NOTE:  If software will not uninstall, appears to be removed and then shows up again, or is otherwise not “going away” when you tell it to do so, try an Uninstaller program.

Microsoft:  Fix problems that block programs from being installed or removed

Next,

Uninstall HP Support Solutions Framework software from Programs and Features

Search or scroll down and find HP Support Solutions / Framework

Select (Click) and Uninstall the software

NOTE:

When installed as part of HP Support Assistant software, HP Support Solutions Framework is a subset of HPSA.   For this reason, HPSA must be uninstalled before the Solutions Framework can be removed.

Restart the computer and log in.

================================================================================

Type = Application

Uninstall HPSA Application >> Apps

FIRST

Uninstall the HP Support Assistant Application

Settings > Apps > Apps and Features

Search or scroll down and find HP Support Assistant

Left-Click on the item (HP Support Assistant) > Uninstall

NEXT > OPTIONAL

Uninstall HP Support Solutions Framework software from Programs and Features

     NOTE 1

Search or scroll down and find HP Support Solutions / Framework

If you find a listing for the Solutions software, then

If you wish to do so, HP Support Solutions can be uninstalled, too.

     NOTE 2

If removed, and wanted again later, HP Support Solutions can be reinstalled at Product Home

Select to use “Auto-Detect” to install HP Support Solutions

Left-Click on the application (HP Support Assistant) > Uninstall

Restart the computer and log in.

================================================================================

Final Check – Software / Application is Removed

After the software is uninstalled (and the computer is Restarted), check to ensure the software is actually “gone”.

Settings > Apps > Apps & features

OR

Control Panel > icon view > Programs and Features

If the software / application is found > Click to uninstall

Restart the computer and log in.

I know what HPPSDR and HPSA are and what their purposes are.

On my PC HP Print and Scan Doctor suddenly stopped working after trying to upgrade from version 5.6.1 to version 5.6.2: now, when I launch the application and nothing happens.

I uninstalled it and tried to reinstall it. The installation starts but then appears to finish without completing its task.

Also I wanted to point out that the HP Support Assistant download produces a zipped file that is unable to decompress properly due to a checksum error (the file appears to be corrupted).

I hope I have been more clear this time
Thank you

OK...

If you have not done so, try the  "Offline" version of the Doctor.

Will that make a difference?  Maybe - it is an older version and does work in a variety of instances.

If it works, it is likely enough to do the job (software is just older and not ancient).

HPSA

I cannot duplicate issue you describe with the HPSA download / installation file.

At this writing, from the HPSA website, pulled from the website > upper right "download" box.

Download file / version = sp135667.exe  / version 9.9.58.0

I don't use the HPSA (all business class systems) - I can verify that (for me), the HPSA installation downloads, extracts, installs.  After installation, the application opens as expected.  In this test, I did not uninstall the previous version of the application from Settings > Apps > Apps and Features.  Operating System version = Windows 11 Pro Build 22000

What is wrong?

No idea.

I have gotten this error screen on every PC where I have attempted to install HPSA (Windows 10 Professional 64bit italian).

Where can I find the "offline" version of HPPSdr.exe?
The only download link I know is https://support.hp.com/it-it/help/printscandoctor

I think this will not help....

From my First post:

Try this Doctor version:

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/printers/hppsdr/patches/HPPSdr.exe

I do not have any solution for HPSA software that won't extract and won't install on any machine.

The best I can do is send your concern for Review.

I will do that.

Thank you.

HPPSDR.exe version 5.0.9 also did not complete its installation.

My feeling is that the upgrade procedure from version 5.6.1 to version 5.6.2 deleted something vital to the installation process and then, for some reason, stopped.

When I launch HPPSDR, after confirming the start of the installation via UAC, a process appears for a moment among the active ones, which disappears immediately afterwards.

Two files are created in the temporary files folder:
- HPDiagnosticCoreUI_PSdrClient.json
- HPDiagnosticCoreUI_PSdrServer.log

This is the content of the .log file:
"Operating System: [Windows 10, 64-bit]
Processor: [Intel (R) Core (TM) i7-4770K CPU @ 3.50GHz]
Run Counter: [1]
Application Path: [C: \ HP \ Diagnostics \ PSDR \ HPDiagnosticCore.dll]
[Oct 26 2021] [08:54:21] [17640] [INFO] [UberLogger.cpp] [CUberLogger :: CUberLogger] [UberServer Initialised]"

I hope this helps

Best regards
