I am trying to remove HP PrintScanDoctor.  It is not in the installed programs so I tried to delete the folder.  The folder is in use I believe because the PrintScanDoctor service is running in the background. I've ended the service through the task manager and via a command prompt.  It restarts immediately!  How do I get rid of the PrintScanDoctor as recommended by HP?

@RindiW, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're trying to remove HP Print and Scan Doctor from your Windows 11 system and it keeps restarting, follow these steps:

End the Running Services

  • Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc)
  • End any of these processes:
    • HPDiagnosticCoreUI.exe
    • HPPrintScanDoctorService.exe

Delete the Installation Folders

  • Navigate to:
    • C:\HP\Diagnostics\PSDR
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\Diagnostics\PSDR
  • Delete these folders. If you get a “folder in use” error, make sure the services above are stopped.

Remove Desktop Shortcut

  • Delete the HP Print and Scan Doctor shortcut from your desktop (if present).

Use HP Smart Instead

  • HP recommends using the Diagnose & Fix tool in the HP Smart app as a modern alternative.

I hope this helps.
