HP 8600
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I had a HP 8600 multifunction Officejet that died a while ago. I replaced with a newer model 8625 Pro that shows up as 8620 on my network. However, the Printer Assistant program still shows 8600 also connected wirelessly to node 14. There is no provision to delete this from the program. The wireless network shows no such device. How I delete or remove the 8600 off the Printer Assistant Program?

Hi @JKPS,

Thanks for becoming an HP community member. A very good day to you. I reviewed the post regarding an old printer entry that needs to be removed. It will be a delight to assist you here. 🙂

Brilliant description, superb troubleshooting and splendid diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you on that score.. 🙂 You are a valued HP customer and I take it as a privilege to share this platform with you. 🙂

For better clarity and to assist you better, I would require more information regarding this.

  • Did you try to uninstall and reinstall the printer software?

For a start, please try these steps:

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.

This removes all entries of all your printers. This is done to ensure that even the print server entries and all other entries are removed from the computer to perform a clean install.

Then please visit this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-officejet-pro-8620-e-all-in-one-printe... and install the full feature software. This should do the trick for you. This reinstalls the HP 8625 printer and gets rid of the Officejet 8600. It also reinstalls the latest printer assistant software. As HP 8625 belongs to the 8620 family, it is getting listed as Officejet 8620

Please keep me posted. I will keep a watch for your reply.

Hope this helps.  Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. 🙂  Please reach out for any issues and I'll be there to assist you. 🙂

To simply say thanksplease click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help.

If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles. 🙂

Take care now and have a splendid week ahead. 🙂
