HP DeskJet 2710 All-in-One Printer

I am trying to update the firmware in my Deskjet 2710. I have downloaded the file from the HP website, but when I click on the .exe file, the HP Printer Update progam runs and finds the printer, however the printer information appears greyed out and I cannot check the box to initiate the update. Any ideas?

I'm sorry you're experiencing issues updating the firmware for your HP DeskJet 2710. Let's try to address the problem with the following steps:

 

Ensure Compatibility:

  • Verify that the firmware update file you downloaded matches your printer model and region (e.g., DeskJet 2710 vs. DeskJet 2700 series).

Check Printer Status:

  • Ensure the printer is powered on and connected to your computer via USB or the same network.
  • Avoid using a wireless connection if possible, as firmware updates are more reliable over USB.

Temporarily Disable Security Software:

  • Disable any antivirus or firewall software on your computer temporarily, as it might block the firmware update process.
  • Retry running the firmware update tool after this step.

Run the Update Tool as Administrator:

  • Right-click the firmware update tool (.exe file) and select Run as Administrator.
  • This can help if permission settings are preventing the tool from working correctly.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and disconnect it from power for about 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect it, turn it back on, and try running the update tool again.

If the issue persists, it may indicate a problem with the printer’s connection or firmware tool. You can also try updating the firmware via the HP Smart app or Click here
