For some time this Update "HP - Printer - 3.2.1.2285" has tried to download, install and has failed every time. 2-3 months ago I got rid of my HP OfficeJet 4650 printer and went with another brand. All the software/apps that were associated with the printer are gone. How do I stop this update from showing up and trying to install?

Hi @Mikeyj423,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you have an HP OfficeJet 4650 All-In-One Printer update notification that won't go away, it can be frustrating. Here are some steps you can take to address the issue.
- Restart the printer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve minor glitches. Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a few seconds, and then plug it back in. Turn on the printer and check if the update notification persists.
- Update the firmware manually: If the printer's firmware update is not installing correctly, you can try manually updating it. Visit the official HP support website, search for your printer model (OfficeJet 4650), and look for firmware updates. Follow the provided instructions to update the firmware using a computer connected to the printer.
- Clear the printer's memory: There might be a temporary issue causing the update notification to stick. Clearing the printer's memory can help. Go to the printer's settings or maintenance menu (refer to the user manual for exact instructions) and look for an option to reset or clear memory.
- Check connectivity: Ensure that your printer is correctly connected to your computer or network. Sometimes, update notifications can persist if the printer is disconnected or has a weak connection.
- Check for pending print jobs: If there are any pending print jobs in the printer's queue, try clearing them. Sometimes, pending print jobs can interfere with updates.
- Update the printer driver: Make sure you have the latest printer driver installed on your computer. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause issues with printer updates. You can download the latest driver from the HP support website.
- Factory reset: As a last resort, you can perform a factory reset on the printer. Keep in mind that this will reset all settings to their default values, so take note of any important custom configurations you might need to set up again.
Remember to back up any essential settings or configurations before attempting a factory reset, as it will erase all personalizations made to the printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
