Hi All,

My HP printer is driving me crazy, and yes I know how crappy they generally are. I have model M234sdw which I bought last year and no longer has HP tech support.

It is tied to my wife and can be found via IP address. It is on, and can be detected on my network when manually searched via Windows 11.

The problem is, when I try to install printer (manually bypassing HP Smart), I receive error message that drivers could not be found, so printer fails to be installed. Device manager does not show the printer so I cannot manually add a driver.

When I try to access via HP Smart, it is found, but when I go to print, it shows that the printer is "offline."

I have tried using HP's troubleshooting "doctor" software, but nothing works. I'm hoping someone here is kind enough to take a moment to give me a response, perhaps something obvious I'm not discovering. Please help. Thank you!

It is possible that your Windows Firewall is causing an issue. Typically for network connected printers I would recommend that you download the HP Smart Universal Printer Driver and manually install the printer using that driver.
