I tried to print something and it said the printer was off line. I clicked on the HP support and got a tech in the chatter box and then I was connected to someone with heavy Indian accent. Should have known but they cleared it up for $270 and then tried a sales pitch showing Cisco systems etc., and how they could protect me for 1-yer to lifetime for $300 - $1200 after I balked. I asked them to send a brochure, which I'm sure I will never see. This was a direct link from the HP site.

I'm sorry you were trapped.

 

There are many, many Not-HP sites on the Internet.

 

Some of the worst sites are far more clever than others.

 

 

Depending on the extent of the damage, there are some general steps to clean up the mess, Including and not limited to the following.

 

For example,

  • Be sure you remove any software the thieves sold or provided to you
  • Change all your passwords that might be compromised.
  • If you let the thieves into your computer, consider that anything not hidden behind encryption might be compromised.   This includes documents, private information, pictures -- "all your stuff".  Scan your system for malware and / or monitoring software.
  • Contact your bank - try to reverse the charges.
  • Contact the authorities and report the incident.

Online Case Submission to HP Support is available to those whose devices registered and are still in Warranty.

 

Some (Most) regions display phone / chat contact information only after the case is submitted online.

 

Not every issue is covered under the standard Hardware Warranty.  Purchased Care Pack Warranties differ by contract.

 

HP is not a "general" repair facility: Requests for out-of-warranty repairs are usually not accepted.

 

If the problem is hardware, if your device is in Warranty, if your device is Registered, and you cannot submit your case to Support, let us know and we will forward a request.

Thieves are waiting - do not just hand out your privacy to their keeping.
