Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Today, I, and other users in the house, had problem connecting  HP ENVY 6032e to WIFI. I was on the HP SMART APP and then the conversation box popped up so I could chat to an advisor. The advisor believed there to be a technical problem and asked for my phone number so I could be contacted within 10 minutes. Within 10 minutes, I had a call from a foreign sounding male (who spoke good English) and took me through the process of trying to connect to the internet. He requested he take control of my computer and after going through some technical applications on the computer he said my drivers were corrupt and requested he completely clean my computer for me stressing that my AVG anti-virus was a waste of time. He suggested I pay him £75.00 for this service. I then realised this was possibly a scam and disconnected the call. I cant find the remote access page on my windows 10 (its not pro) and Im worried that he will still have access to my computer. Is there anything I can do? thanks.

Hi @soloman88,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.

I see that you are looking for information on how to go back to a previous date where there was no remote access to your Laptop.

Follow the below steps to fix the issue.

-Perform a power drain on your PC.

1) Unplug the power cord from the PC & wall.

2) Disconnect the power cable from the AC adapter if it is a detachable part and keep it aside.

3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.

4) Plug the power cord back into the AC adapter, then connect it to the wall and to the charging port on your PC.

5) Power on the PC and check if it boots into Windows now.

- Kindly refer to the steps on this link to perform a system restore to take the PC back to a previous date that will remove anything installed after taking remote access.

- Refer to this video link for more information on how to perform system restore.
