Hello Shlomi,

I understand. Is there any way to download an older driver that was created before Iris Pro was separated from HP Scan?

Thanks and kind regards

Yes, there is an old driver.

Try to search for it on the Internet first.

Kind Regards

I sent you a PN.

Please install HP Universal Scan Driver below:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/SJ0001/MFPs/Full_Webpack-51.7.5628-SJ0001_Full_We...

I cannot confirm as unable to access an M277 printer, but for my experience and by testing with a similar Laserjet level printer, completing this installation should add OCR capabilities to the HP Scan program.

Hi,

I tried that the first time but it did not work because the software did not recognise/find the printer.

But its all right, because I was lucky enough to find a driver on an old hard drive just today.

Thanks to all of you for your efforts.

One question: Should I accept it as solution? My problem is solved, but only thanks to the old driver.

Thanks again and kind regards.

You are welcome.

Yes, The retrieved driver from your backups / hard drive / where ever it was hiding is considered a solution.

Thus the suggestion to try and find it.

True - the OCR option was removed from many software packages in 2022.

The document that explains the change mentions the "before and after" considerations.

I might have erred earlier - the cutoff was June 2022 and not May.

HP printers - Scan as Editable Text (OCR) with HP Scan (Windows)

Excerpted from the document:

For HP print drivers downloaded after June 2022, the HP Universal Scan software is required to enable the Save as Editable Text (OCR) shortcut in HP Scan. HP print drivers downloaded before June 2022 do not need to install HP Universal Scan.

Finally,

The Universal Scan Software did not work because your model / series is not in the list of compatible models for the software.

Excellent and done.

Happy Scanning.
