Hi folks,
My set up for the past 3 years is a Photosmart C4780 connected wirelessly to my HP Notebook - 17-ca1027na and to my HP DC7100 desktop via home network. I've been using HP Scan and Capture app with both PCs regularly for the last 3 years and all was fine. Then, a couple of weeks ago HP Scan and Capture stopped scanning from the Notebook stating "No device Found, click Select Device from Setting Menu" (in HP Scan & capture). In the Settings Menu under Select Device a Camera is already available but a search produces no other found devices. Printing works fine from the Notebook but not the scanning.
Deleting the device from Control Panel on the Notebook and re-installing has no effect.
Deleting the HP Scan and Capture app from the Notebook has no effect.
Drivers for the Photosmart C4780 are not available on the support pages of the HP website - it recognises the device but then sends you into a circular loop leading nowhere.
The Notebook is relatively new and still covered by an HP Care Pack so I contacted HP Support who unfortunately were as useful as a chocolate teapot. They say the printer is too old and their database doesn't recognise the device, so a driver is not available to them. They fail to recognise that the device works perfectly from the desktop so the issue is at the Notebook and the best they can offer is a discount on a new HP printer. As I say, chocolate teapot springs readily to mind.
Does anyone have an original driver for the C4780 that I could try, or any suggestions for further troubleshooting?
Thanks and have a peaceful day.
George
