HP Smart app  keeps crashing on opening. I have tried checking for Windows updates (all up to date), repairing the app, deleting and reinstalling it, all to no avail. So I am reduced to scanning to a USB stick.

Any ideas on how to resolve this? I do a lot of scanning for work so having to use a USB stick is going to be a major pain in the butt.

Hi Echo,

The issue isn’t with the printer: I can sent prints to it snd scan from it onto a memory stick. The issue is with the app. It won’t open and run. It opens the immediately crashes. So I cannot scan to pc.

I am running the current version (I uninstalled and reinstalled it after repair didn’t work), on a Windows 10 PC which has all the current MS updates up to date.

Kind regards,

Sam

@NorfolkSam

Thank you for posting back.

Firstly, let's update the printer's firmware, refer - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

If the issue persists, follow the next steps. Uninstall the app from your Windows 10 device through the All Apps list.

  1. In Windows, search for and open Apps & features.
  2. Click HP Smart in the list of apps, and then click Uninstall.
    And, install HP smart app from here: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04675142

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
