Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that you are getting issues with HP smart app, I am glad to assist you.

Did you uninstall from the root level and reinstall the HP smart app?

If not, follow these steps:-

Perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer related software's.

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.
  • Restart the PC again.

Thanks for your input. Printer has been deleted (through step 6) but 'printui.exe/s" cannot not be found. Any more suggestions?

The HP Smart app will not download from microsoft store

After several depressing days without the ability to scan I again tried to download the HP Smart App. Still spins.

I appreciate your trying to help. Is there an alternate step to printui.exe/s? The error message reads "Windows cannot find "printui.exe/s. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again." I did try again (and again) but still does not download.

Do you know anything about the Brother MFC-J4335DW printer? it seems to have  good reviews and since it appears I will not be able to use my Envy 7855 any longer I need to move on.

I had same problem! From start menu I clicked Apps & features. Search for HP. Then when HP smart populates on the list click on advanced options. Scroll down to reset and click repair. This worked for me it opens and I can now set printer up. Hope this helps!

Hi, I have just tried all of the above and now just done the repair which still hasn't sorted the problem. If I try HP smart I just get the spinning wheel which I cn only close by ending it through task manager. If I remove everything and load HP smart through the microsoft App I get the same problem. Is there an old fashioned way of just loading the progrmme from the website rather than having to use app store?

Thanks, any help much appreciated as I'm getting close to throwing the printer in the skip and buying a different make

Update, I think i've fixed it. After doing the repair I then clicked on the reset button. It then loaded, I re-assigned the printer but it now works. I dont know if it will last but might be a help to other people

Hi,

Try the below suggestions-

1)Uninstall HP Smart App

2)Install all the available Windows updates

If it is been a while since you updated your Windows, that is the main reason why Windows says your HP printer driver is unavailable. Here are the steps how to do a Windows Update to install all accessible operating system update.

If you are accessing Windows 10, then these steps are for you.

  1. Hit the Start menu and write an update. After that, click on the “Check for updates” option.
  2. Tap on the “Check for updates” option.
  3. After clicking on that option, Windows will install the updates automatically.
  4. When Windows completes all its updates, start your computer again and attempt to print a file to check if your printer works.

3) try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

4)Reinstall HP Smart App from windows store.
