HP Envy 7800
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just purchased and installed an HP Envy 7800 printer.  I now have a HP Smart Icon on my taskbar.  Is there any way to get this icon onto my desktop.  I like the desktop shortcuts rather than the taskbar.

Now click on START "Lower left corner" and search for HP SMART.

When you find it drag it to your Desktop.

You can also use SEARCH WINDOWS.

Type in HP SMART and drag it to your Desktop.

I clicked on it as you said and unpinned it and now it's gone.  I want it on my desktop -- now I have nothing.

Hi,

HP Smart is a modern app, a such cannot be added to the desktop natively.

To put it back in the taskbar click the search icon and search for HP Smart, right click its icon from teh results and select Pin to taskbar.

To add it to your desktop you may try the following windows tweak, from my experience that should do the trick:

Right click the Start button and select File Explorer.

Copy and paste the exact text below into the address bar, then press Enter:

%windir%\explorer.exe shell:::{4234d49b-0245-4df3-b780-3893943456e1}

From the shown window locate HP Smart, right click it and select Create Shortcut, that should add a direct shortcut to your desktop.
