HP Smart Issue

 Why?  HP Smart is annoying!  It screws up our work-flow.  We don't need your help to manage printers!  SO STOP!  BTW, who gave you permission to automatically install your HP Smart?  Oh I probably agreed to HP T&C somewhere along the installation and setup process.  BUT I CARE!  i WANT HP TO IMMEDIATELY STOP INSTALLATING THIS ON MY MACHINE!!!   or explain how I can delete this and prevent it from changing my default printer settings!

No need to yell at strangers who would help.

This is a peer-to-peer user group.

HP Smart application is not mandatory --

Install the full driver printer software.

Ignore or delete the HP Smart application from Apps and Features.

>>> If you need help installing the full driver printer software, ask - preferably do so nicely.

If you are referring to...

HP Smart Printing driver

When / if added to Devices and Printers as a print driver selection - HP Smart Printing driver is not mandatory.

Set your Printer Properties to use (instead) the installed HP named driver (software).

Set your Default Printer to stay as selected.

True - the HP Smart Printing driver will - at this writing - come back after it is removed from Devices and Printers.  If you do not call it and do not set it to be used, the HP Smart Printing driver will sit quietly in Devices and Printers and not bother you.

Preparation > Check / enable the printer as the “Default Printer”

Settings > Devices > Printers and scanners

UNCHECK (clear box) Let Windows manage my default printer

Select (Left-Click) your printer from the list of printers > Manage > Set as Default

Thanks for your help.  In the world we live in with constant virus and malware threats, this HP Smart app the way it repeatedly reinstalls itself until further action is taken is a real threat.  Someone really needs to rethink the virtues of the way it is presently setup to do this.
