When I use the HP Smart App, to print photos it defaults to something called "Simple Phot Print".  In this mode I am unable to access the Max dpi option in the menu.  How can I access the Presets I have defined via
Control Panel ->Print Preferences?

Welcome to the HP Community --

True -- HP Smart (Windows) / HP App does not include the ability save customized Shortcuts / Presets.

HP Smart / HP App "Simple Photo Print" can select (for the current job) a Print Quality setting of "Draft", "Normal", or "Best" / "High Quality" .

There are subtleties in play.

Much of what you can do is related to your printer model and whether the printer supports an alternative option and / or an option that still provides you the choice to use HP Smart as your photo printing application.

    -- What? --

-- Your solution --

Yes, there are other "Not HP Smart / HP App" print software / applications.  Some of these require that you install the full driver printer software for your printer.  For example, Install the full driver to support and use the brilliant and free Irfanview  software for Windows.   Other third party Photo editing / printing software programs might also require or at least benefit from having the full driver installed.

-- This section FYI only --

Options for supported items in the HP Smart / HP App "More Settings" menu

Choose to use HP Smart with an "extra" layer of "app" / software to support "Presets" / Custom Shortcuts.

For example, if your printer supports the HP Smart Printing queue or the HP Smart Universal Print driver (typically stand alone and both printer and OS dependent), then "HP Smart" can made part of a smarter print option that does include Presets / Custom Shortcuts.

-- Note --

When selecting the print quality, note that the Print Quality setting is within the HP Smart "Simple Photo Print" main menu -- selections made only here (in this menu) do not translate to the "More Settings" portion of the setup where Presets can be created and saved.

-- Dragon Note --

If the description is confusing, please blame my lack of "on the fly" ability to adequately describe the options.
